A delicious brekkie in the morning sun at Motto am Fluss has become now a ritual carried out once a month. It’s a popular spot for the breakfast-lovers.

Get a table on their terrace, where you can soak up the morning sun while enjoying a cup of coffee and something from their original breakfast menu. Don’t worry if the terrace is fully booked when you get there – the café also has lots of space inside, and due to it being surrounded in glass windows, you’ll surely get some sun rays peeking through and hitting your face. The café offers lots of yummy dishes and changes theirmenu from time to time.

We recommend… booking in advance, as it is always jam–packed during breakfast hours.

Brought to you by the Landtmann crowd, they’ve managed to pull off another eating and drinking creation worth your butt hitting its chairs at some point.

The view is truly idyllic (pictures don’t lie in this instance) and the breakfast menu is a refreshing mix of Austrian breakfast favourites – you’ve got your egg dishes, the cold cut meats, the cheeses, marmalade and Kipferl – alongside some Oriental-inspired breakfast combos, featuring Baba ghanoush and Hummus.

Neni am Naschmarkt is – surprise, surprise, located in the heart of the ever-so-bustling and mighty Naschmarkt. This family-owned business from Haya Molcho and her sons is known for its divine Israeli cuisine. Besides serving up high quality food that is perfect for sharing, it’s also got a nice Schanigarten where you can enjoy your Isreali-inspired breakfast in the sun.

Located in the beautifulTürkenschanzpark on the outskirts of Vienna, it’s easy to get lost before you stumble upon the outdoor restaurant, Meierei Diglas. The restaurant is usually packed when the sun is out, with the older crowd of the district gathering together here to enjoy a Melange and extensive breakfast in the morning (and a beer and modern Austrian cuisine as of noon). Noisy and casual, the venue is the perfect place to get together with a friend and bitch about someone who lives in the inner districts (no chance of being overheard, here!). The food itself plays a solid game, consisting of a variety of breakfasts in the morning and a daily changing menu at lunch time.

Meanwhile, the garden surrounded by greenery is what really turns us on about this place. Perfect for a sunny day morning breakfast.

We recommend:turning up before 11:30 am, getting a coffee and light breakfast and passing out in the park for a mid-morning nap.

This eatery located in the popular Yppenplatz market square truly stands out. WIRR am Brunnenmarkt is known for drawing crowds every night during the summer months because of their good drinks, but it’s also great spot for breakfast. The rooftop terrace offers a lovely view into neighbouring buildings’ windows and the Schanigarten below is also a nice spot to seat while sipping a morning coffee.

This café inside the Volkskundemuseum in the 8th disctrict’s got a charming interior, but what we love even more is its beautiful, hidden al fresco garden set out back in the inner courtyard.

This one’s truly made for fairytales and a great breakfast spot to linger for hours over a weekend brunch (or weekday breakfast), but you gotta’ reserve well in advance, or you might miss out.

Cafe Frida radiates the kind of light and warm atmosphere that you want from a breakfast spot. It’s al fresco garden is hanging off the edge of the vibrant Yppenplatz, and is soaked in sun during the morning hours. Even when it’s too hot outside, they have a awning-umbrella-thingy that keeps the whole garden covered and cool.

This is one colourful cafe serving up a very tasty breakfast in the kind of setting that makes you sigh and go, ‘ain’t life wonderful.’

Cafe Frida’s original breakfast creations is one of the things that attract the crowds.

At the top of the menu, you’ll find an organic claim to fame, and below you’ll find breakfast food options like ‘French Toasting Pikant’ (French Toast with bacon, rocket and maple syrup) and ahandful of other French toast options and pancakes.

Everything is homemade at the sweet, sweet ‘Cafe Himmelblau.’ Made with produce purchased right outside the cafe at the Kutschker market, the proof is in the breakfast, as they say. The outdoor garden in the midst of the market emits a great vibe to sit amidst and enjoy a Melange and breakfast. The crowd here comes in all shapes and sizes, and at all hours of the day; the busiest time being breakfast and lunch time during the summer. This family cafe prides itself on its homemade breads and cakes, and the rather small menu serving, what the co-owner Florian says, are fewer but fresher options than most cafes.

It’s scored one of the most picture perfect corners in the city so if you score a table at Ramasuri for a weekend breakfast, you know it’s going to be a good start to your day. The sun graces it with its presence throughout the whole morning, but if you’re not such a sun fan, never fear – your delicate pale skin will be covered umbrellas and such.

Ramasuri serves up some magnificent breakfast dishes and some of the most indulgent. Take the blueberry pancakes, for example – served in a stack of three, they’re as light as they are fluffy, and they come covered in a devine blueberry and caramel sauce. The omelettes that arrive in pans are also generous and well made, coming in a diverse array of combinations.

We’d recommend you go one of their fresh squeezed juices go atleast give yourself the illusion you’re having a healthy breakfast. Plus, they know how to make a decent coffee, too.

Cafe Espresso possesses more character, history and stories than 90-year-old drag queen stripper. Cafe Espresso isn’t decked out in all their retro glam because retro and vintage are hip – no, Cafe Espresso is just an old-timer that has never grown old. And while it’s a pleasure to sit amongst the scarlet red leather booths and baby blue walls of its insides, the street-side Schanigarten out front makes for the perfect place to sip coffee and breakfast. The breakfast menu is full of choice, and no matter what you choose, you’ll come out on top. This living legend is the kind of place you can earn your hangover in the night before, and try to fight it off with a fillinf and fantastic breakfast the day after.

Nestled amidst the exotic supermarkets and graffiti is Das Augustin, a glorious breakfast haven of yum. Out the back of the dimly-lit Gasthaus-looking cafe, there’s a beautiful al fresco garden enclosed by an inner courtyard and it catches the sun perfectly in the morning.

The breakfast menu is simple, but creative. It’s comprised of the classic ingredients in a Vienna breakfast: muesli, ham and cheese, but all of the breakfasts have their own original homemade twists. Like the Scandinavia-inspired breakfast, made up of Norwegian salmon, goat cheese, and ruccola with a lemon dressing, for example.
