Friday 3/15 12:31

The day was boring.

The only words to explain it.

Considering the fact that it was Friday nobody really cared about what the teachers placed on their desk. Most were focused on figuring out who was hosting this Fridays party. As said before, every Friday a party is thrown in someone’s dorm.(or house, whatever.) Around third period was when the news had spread that the Soyama twins were hosting this Fridays party at their parent’s house. They had their fare share of popularity when they entered the school. Being trained in a dojo is a delicacy to others. And with their loaded grandpa raising them, it wasn’t easy to ignore them. Though Uzui believed that it should have been him that threw the party. Finally lunch period rolled around. Kanroji and her group of friends; which we’ll name the hashira for obvious reasons, made a quick decision and snuck off campus, b-lining for the nearby mall. Most already had outfits for the nights event but some came for other necessities.

After doing some personal shopping, they headed over to the food court with only an hour left.

(I’m lazy.)

“What do you want rengoku?” Uzui asked. “Hm, well I don’t really know. Everything looks good.” He uttered.
“Wanna go for Chinese?” Uzui asked. After receiving a nod from Kyojuro the two set off for the Chinese styled booth. The Hashira taking notes from the previous interaction split up in search for their lunch.

~~

“What’d you get?”

Shinazugawa asked looking a kanroji’s full plate. “Not much!” She responded as she pulled her chopsticks apart and prepared to dig in. Sanemi glared at her with a disgusted aura. Kocho noticed the glare from across the table and was willing to defend her favorite friend. Kocho was not one to let bullying slide. “It’s not nice to judge people for the amount of food they can consume, Shinazugawa.” Shinobu scolded in her monotonous voice as she walked over to their shared table. “Let’s not argue and just enjoy the damn food.” Iguro scoffed. “Agreed.” Replied Uzui as he snatched a bite of sesame chicken off of his chopsticks.

~~~~
Late.
It was honestly embarrassing. Why weren’t they watching the time? Why weren’t they paying attention? Who knows.
Lunch had finished at least twenty minutes ago and fifth period had already begun. Without drivers licenses they had to rely on bikes and their legs to get back on school grounds. “Apologies for this Kyojuro, we did not plan for this to happen!” Kocho panted as her little legs could barely touch the wheels of her bike. “Don’t worry about it; though it’s only my second day here- I’m sure we can make up some excuse!” He quickly replied. “Well y’all better come up with something quick because I have nothing,” added Tomioka. Despite them all being out of breath and tired, Tomioka still kept his calm demeanor. “Well how about, we had family problems?” Kanroji asked.
“Too basic,” replied Sanemi. “Dentist or doctor’s appointment?” Uzui suggested. “We would need a doctor’s note.” Iguro spat. “How about a-“
“Light.” Tomioka exclaimed.
Excuse me?” Kocho asked slightly agitated by the way Tomioka interrupted her.
“Light!” He yelled for the second time.
It was only then did they notice the red light. They all almost on cue stopped in unison. “OMG! We totally almost-could have-died!” Kanroji stuttered. “This is the one time I’m actually glad Tomioka opened his mouth.” Iguro hissed. “You’re welcome.” Tomioka replied to the sarcastic remark earning a glare from the shorter male. “Can this light hurry up!? We’ve been sitting here for a good two minutes!” Barked Shinazugawa. “Chill out man, we’re already late.” Uzui said in a co*cky tone. Before Sanemi could hop off his bike and beat the living sh*t out of Uzui the light turned green allowing them to go.
~~
“Now the real question is how are we gonna get back in the school?” Kocho questioned. “We could just head back to my dorm, skip a couple of classes who cares.” Sanemi offered. “On Kyojuro’s second day!? I don’t think so!” Kanroji scolded. “It’s either that or you find another way in!” He barked back. To be honest, there really was no other way into the main school, heading back to the dorms and getting a few Tardy’s didn’t seem so bad. “Fine,” she sighed. “Cool let’s go.” He announced. The group trailed behind him as they walk up at least two flights of stairs.
“Why does your room have to be on the fifth f*cking floor?!” Uzui complained. “Stop f*cking complaining sh*t lips, it’s right there!” Using his key card Sanemi opened the door allowing them all inside. Right before shutting the door he checked the hallways for any sign of staff or students. When the coast was clear he shut the door and locked it. “It smells like weed in here,” Kyojuro pointed out. “Surprised you know what weed smells like Mr. Goodie tooshoes.” Sanemi barked as he took a seat on his beat up couch.
“Lay off man, he’s just telling the truth, no need to be a dick about it.” Uzui scoffed. “Fine, I guess you don’t wanna hit it then,” Sanemi sighed pulling out a blunt. “I sincerely apologize.” Uzui bowed changing his tone real quick. “Got any snacks?” Tomioka asked. “Nah, I’m broke as f*ck’- no sh*t dumbass!” Shinazugawa shouted. “Enough with the yelling, I already have a headache.” Iguro whined. “Aww, obi!” Kanroji cried as she patted Iguro’s head that laid upon her lap. They had been dating for a couple of weeks now. They were that one couple who would have those crazy pet names like, ‘sugar bear plum,’ or ‘honey-bunch cupcake nugget.’ It’s honestly really cringe and it needs to be stopped, but until then…
Three of them sat on the couch, iguro, Kanroji and Sanemi, Kocho sat in the bean chair, and the others either leaned against the couch of sat on the floor. Kyojuro was one of the ones on the floor, watching whatever movie Sanemi had came across. It was about thirty minutes into the movie when all of their phones began to go off. “Next period already?” Mitsuri complained. “I didn’t expect us all to have a reminder for every class,” Kocho snickered. “Look at us, we all obviously need it.” Uzui stated as he threw his bag over his shoulder. Not wanting to be late to yet another class, they all began rushing out the door. Getting stuck in the process.
~~
Eventually the evening rolled around and everyone began dressing in their best attire.
Kyojuro had personally worn a maroon suit with his only pair of black slacks and dress shoes. He wasn’t one for fancy parties or even normal parties for that matter. For his hair he had tied all of it up into a high ponytail leaving his side bangs and front hair out. Now for the makeup, what could he do? He wasn’t one for makeup; only ever using eyeliner. But today was the only time he would be okay with it. After applying the basics like his primer, foundation, and blush, he added red eyeshadow to match his tux and lips. He always used eyeliner, always, that’s how he keeps his iconic sharp eyes. It wasn’t long before he heard his front door open.
“Kyojuroooooo, I’m here!” She cooed. “Hey kanroji!” He replied to the other. “Okay I see you Kyojuro, with the tux!” “Yeah, yeah, are we heading out or not?” He asked eager to head over to this party. “Yes but let me get a selfie with you real quick!” She squealed. He loved kanroji he really did but she was just way too much sometimes. Accepting that he wouldn’t make it out the door without taking this photo. He crouched down just a bit to be at her level and put up a peace sign. Noticing the hand gesture; Kanroji did the same. Quick snap and they were done. “Kay now let’s go before the others get pissed!”
_______
“You two finally made it.” Hissed Iguro standing at the gate in front of the Soyama residence. Saying the house was big was an understatement. It was an American styled mansion, with at least six garages, two pools, and the main residence. Kyojuro was shocked to say the least. His family use to own a traditional Japanese house here in Japan before they gave it to Ruka’s sister, also known as Kanroji’s mother. The excitement rushed through them all as they pushed open the gates entering the property of the rich twins. The outside seemed quiet, excusing the drunkards chilling in the parking lot, but when they entered, boy was it complicated. Blinded by bright lights the group tried to stay together but the crowd separated them quickly. There was no room to really dance, only twirl a bit and shake your hips. You wanted fruit punch? Well the drink station is blocked by the random idiots sitting there instead of moving out the way for others. Same thing with the food. It was really loud. Insanely loud. Loud enough to disturb, half death Rengoku Kyojuro. He had to get away from the crowd, maybe the bathroom? Or a closet? He pushed through people apologizing as he knocked into them. He held his breath. It was getting harder and harder to breathe, he felt as if he was being crushed to death. Finally finding his hands on a door handle, he opened it and entered, shutting (more like slamming) the door behind him. He sighed a sigh of relief when the sounds of music was drowned out.
“Finally out of that mess,” he groaned. “Party not good enough for you?” A voice asked. Kyojuro looked up to see another being sitting on the bed. This must’ve been one of the twins, he was in his bedroom!? Oh gosh, this was embarrassing, barging into someone else’s private space? He apologized. “Ah! N-no, im sorry I didn’t know this room was occupied, I-I’ll leave!” He frantically stuttered reached for the handle again. “No no, it’s alright. You can stay. I came in here to do the exact same thing.” The twin explained. “Thank you,” Kyojuro expressed his gratitude. “Come, sit.” The twin pointed to the bed. In which Kyojuro fallowed. “Here, it’s pop don’t worry.” He answered Kyojuro’s question before he could even ask it. “Thank you again- uhm?”
“Akaza, Akaza soyama.”
Akaza. That name was familiar. “Say, you’re the transfer from Australia, Kyojuro right?” Akaza asked leaning in amazed by Kyojuro’s flaming features. “Yep, that’s me. Words really gotten around, and it’s only my second day.” Kyojuro giggled. He earned a smile from the pink haired twin. Abruptly, a glimmer from what seemed to be a metal caught Kyojuro’s eye, and then he noticed the collection of metals. “Woah, what are you? Some professional baseball player?” Kyojuro asked. “Oh- no I’m a boxer, or I want to become one.” “What do you mean?” Kyojuro asked as he noticed the slight gleam in Akaza’s eye. “Well my boxing isn’t really boxing, it’s more-or-so karate or what my trainer likes to call it, soryu.” Akaza explained. “I preform on television every once in a while, but I receive a bit of backlash for not boxing like how other boxers do.” He sighed,
“And it doesn’t help that my old man isn’t to fond of the idea. He thinks it’s a dangerous sport, and I’m better playing things like, tennis, or baseball. But that’s not what I want. I want to choose how my life goes. But he couldn’t care less. I just want him to see me and be proud of what I’ve done.”
“…”
It had only hit Akaza that Kyojuro was in the room and was not the poster of Muhammad Ali that he usually vents to. “f*ck, I’m trauma dumping aren’t I? I’m sorry-“
“don’t be.”
“Huh?”
“Don’t be sorry. I understand you completely. Back at home, my father isn’t to fond of me. He yells, a lot and doesn’t give two flying f*cks what I do with my life. And I too wish for my father to look at me and tell me he’s proud, but some things take time so I’ve waited and waited. And I’m still waiting.”
Akaza stared at him. This is the first time he’s met someone other than Hakuji with so much in common. “Can we be friends.” Akaza bluntly asked. “Oh-uhm sure!” Kyojuro beamed back. They laughed for a while, spending half the entire party telling stories and jokes from their childhood and current time. Kyojuro couldn’t help the way his mouth moved to start talking over, and over again. He had never had anyone like this to talk to, other than his newest friends and Senjuro.
Akaza had eventually snuck out of his room to grab more snacks and drinks for the two of them. And as Akaza did that, Kyojuro laid back a relaxed his muscles. He wondered what his friends were doing, it wouldn’t hurt to check up on them, he would just come back later and make an excuse like he had to use the bathroom, or was looking for him.
After shutting the door behind he him, he was already being slightly crushed. was this hallway always so packed. Passing by a bathroom after escaping the crowd he noticed Sanemi in there. Puking… Gross. He seemed to have drunken more than his body could handle. Without checking on the other, Kyojuro continued his journey noticing a few others on the way. Shinobu flirting with Tomioka as he grimaced at how corny she was being. That earned a chuckle from him. And then he noticed Kanroji on the dance floor with Iguro. Those two were always bunched up together, what could you expect, they were that type of couple. And then there was Uzui. Sitting alone, looking lonely. Kyojuro couldn’t leave him like that, I mean just look at him.
“What’s up with you?” Kyojuro asked leaning on the wall beside Uzui. “Bored. It’s a flashy house don’t get me wrong but it’s pretty boring here, no games or anything just alchohal, pop, snacks, and dancing. Uzui explained.
“I understand, say I just met-“ before he could finish his sentence the hired DJ had made an obnoxiously loud transition to a slow song one for the obvious lovesick teens. Uzui chuckled setting his cup down before reacher his hand out to Kyojuro. “Care to dance?” He asked. Kyojuro looked down at his hand. They looked soft, he hesitated before accepting. And boy was he right. What lotion did this motherf*cker use because boy, were his hands soft, and smooth, and comforting. When he felt the other hand (just as soft) settle on his hip, his heart almost skipped a beat. Their eyes locked and before you knew it they were hand in hand, and slowly turning to the tunes.
(How much yall wanna bet that the song the DJ’s playing is ‘two slow dancers’ by my queen, Mitski?)
The longer they held hands the closer they got. When did Uzui get so tall, and so, hot? Or was it him? Was he sweating, oh god that would be embarrassing! Kyojuro, distracted by his thoughts laid his head on Uzui’s chest, still wide-eyed. Uzui, not expecting it held him closer. Kyojuro wasn’t used to dancing, especially slow dancing, but with uzui there he was assisted. Right foot back, left foot back, left foot front, right foot front, scoot to the left, then back, and repeat.
A simple little dance, and easy for Kyojuro to remember and do.
“This is nice.” Uzui explained, breaking the silence. “Yeah.” Kyojuro replied awkwardly. Though the music was loud and so were the voices of others as they danced, it felt like silence consumed the two of them. “So, I’ve probably asked this already but- how do you like the new school?” Uzui asked just wanting to end their awkward situation. “Well it’s only my second day but, I’ve enjoyed it so far. I would’ve thought that Kanroji’s friends would be a lot like her, but you guys sure are the opposite.” Kyojuro explained remembering their quick lunch adventure earlier that day. “Well before you know it you’ll be just like us.” Uzui giggled. “We’ll see about that.” Kyojuro replied lifting his head up off of Uzui’s chest as the song came to an end. They had a brief moment where they only stared into each other’s eyes. Fuchsia met gold and a bit of crimson. A spark had lit in between the two at that moment. A friendship just waiting to bloom. It felt like this was the moment they were waiting for their entire life. “Woah eh..- uhm I’ll see you around, kyo.” Uzui chuckled as he pushed through the crowd, away from Kyojuro. He sat there for a moment, thinking of the feeling he had just felt between him and Uzui. It felt… nice? He hadn’t felt anything like that before. It wasn’t like a spark you get when you’ve rubbed against the carpet for a while- no. It was more so the kind of spark you get when you’ve finally realized something, or just got the best idea, or… met somebody you never knew you needed to meet.
It felt nice.
“Kyojuro!” A familiar voiced called out. It was Akaza. He was slightly confused and his left hand was occupied with a shot glass. “Akaza! There you are!” Kyojuro decided to play along. “I was looking for you, I returned to the room and you weren’t there. Where’d you go?” He asked growing slightly agitated due to confusion. “Well, it took you a while to return and I went out to find you a-and then I got lost and-“ “Never mind Kyojuro. It’s alright.” Akaza calmed him down. “You wanna head back or stay here?” He asked, already getting tired of the overwhelming amount of people. “Can we go outside?”
“Sure.”
(Yes, I know that in Japan mansions probably aren’t common and when on a bike you’re not in the road so you don’t necessarily stop at a red light- but hey, Let me use my wild imagination. And yes I also know that you don’t use their first names due to it being a respect thing but I’m going to anyways because it’s just a story and I’m to lazy to go back and change it.)
