GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers kicked off training camp Monday morning with thousands of fans turning up for the first of 16 public practices.
Discover Green Bay estimates 80,000 fans from many states and about 20 countries will trek to Green Bay for free public practices scheduled between today and Aug. 22. It brings a fun, festive atmosphere to the Lambeau Field area as fans get psyched up for the season ahead.
But sooner or later practice ends or you need to get out of the sun for a bit and grab a bite to eat. Maybe you've got time to spare before your Lambeau Field tour starts or before the Packers' annual meeting of shareholders begins at 3 p.m. Monday.
From food trucks to sports bars to your favorite chains to local icons, here are 20 options for you to consider, most of which would be a short walk from the Packers practice fields and Lambeau Field.
Food trucks on site when Packers practice are open to the public
Green Bay is deep into food truck season and training camp's on the schedule and visitors will be able to find several options set up near the Packers playoff complex east of Lambeau Field.
The Packers plan to bring several food trucks to the Lambeau area each day when practice is open to the public. On Monday, the food trucks were in Lot 1 of Lambeau Field, along South Oneida Street. Vendors offered grilled cheeses with a Grateful Dead theme, authentic Mexican tacos, shaved ice and, in the morning, coffee.
Beginning Tuesday and for the rest of the public practices, the food trucks will set up in the parking lot just east of Ray Nitschke Field, between Mike McCarthy Way and Armed Forces Drive.

Between Lambeau Field and the Titletown District, just west of the stadium, you'll find at least seven options for food and drinks a very short walk from the training camp grounds.

Kroll's West, 1990 S. Ridge Road, Ashwaubenon. The Kroll's, west and east, are institutions in the Green Bay area. Our readers say Kroll's West has some of the best soups and chili in the region.
1919 Kitchen and Tap, 1265 Lombardi Ave., in the Lambeau Field Atrium. You might want to check if you can schedule a reservation ahead of time; no reservations were available on Monday, July 22.
Johnsonville Tailgate Village, in the parking lot east of Lambeau Field, will serve food from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 22-23, 26-28, 30-31 and Aug. 1, 13-14, 20 and 22, the dates of the public practices.
Leaps and Bounds Cafe, inside Lodge Kohler, 1950 S. Ridge Road, in Ashwaubenon.
Cardinal's Crest Rooftop Bar & Grille and Heritage, inside the Legacy Hotel, 1004 Brett Favre Pass. The Legacy Hotel opened in January and introduced two new restaurants to the stadium district east of Lambeau Field.

These eateries are a few of those "you have to try"'" spots the locals might tell you about. Some of them will require a drive, rather than a walk, to get to.
The Drift Inn, 1535 S. Ashland Ave., De Pere. Known for its northeastern Wisconsin style chili, which is made with a secret blend of spices. It's become an institution in the area since it started serving chili 45 years ago.
Kroll's East, 1658 Main St.
Jake's Pizza, 112 S. Broadway.
Union Hotel, 200 N Broadway St., De Pere. This supper club and fine dining restaurant is actually older than the Packers, but has several ties to the team. The team's iconic G logo was designed at the Union Hotel and coaches dating back to Curly Lambeau were known to dine at the Union.
El Sarape West, 2615 S. Oneida St., Ashwaubenon.
Los Magueyes, 2648 S. Packerland Drive, Ashwaubenon. Both El Sarape and Los Magueyes have been part of the Green Bay restaurant scene for about two decades now and offer authentic Mexican food in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Where's Chick-fil-A, Buffalo Wild Wings and other national chains? South Oneida Street
Sometimes you just want a familiar menu, a favorite dish or need a quick run through a drive-thru.
From Applebee's to Wendy's, chances are you'll find most national chains on South Oneida Street just a couple miles south of Lambeau Field. There are a few options, like Buffalo Wild Wings and Mission BBQ, that are within a 15-20 minute walk of the stadium.
Other choices might require a couple minutes' drive.
